Before turning his back to the bigger dog, who was still obviously offended by the puppy, Addison stared in disbelief. As it became evident the animal he grabbed from the forest wasn't a puppy, Addison moaned in annoyance. What was he doing? He felt as though the awareness struck like a physical force. Suddenly, all the minute signals he had observed earlier—the odd fur texture, the different head shape, the weird calmness—made perfect sense. The Labrador responded naturally to a wild predator, not aggressively towards a puppy. His head whirled with all the possibilities of what precisely he had pulled from the cave.
