Right now, the loss of the car has to be given top attention. Before dialling the police, Addison considered for a few minutes. Addison carried a phone. He gave the police a call. Addison's mind leaps over his choices and priorities in these pivotal times. He hasn't forgotten about the enigmatic monster that set off this entire series of events even though car theft is somewhat common. He mentally develops a strategy to manage both scenarios concurrently while he waits for the cops to respond. The police call gets more complicated as he decides whether or not to bring up the animal he looks after. Though he understands he had to report the automobile theft right away, he also understands that welfare of the creature cannot wait. His years of animal rescue enable him to remain calm while he succinctly tells the dispatcher the circumstances. Though Addison understands he must treat both circumstances with equal seriousness, the priorities seem to fight each other: recovering his stolen car vs guaranteeing appropriate treatment for the rescued animal.
