The Clock Is Ticking
The animals were not in immediate danger if it wasn't going to rain. In addition to being in a deep and dark location, the enclosure was extremely cold, so it was imperative for the firefighters to hurry as soon as possible. Clearly, there was no time at all to waste and the firefighters needed to devise a plan.
Quick Thinking
The firefighters believed the trapped animals were pretty small since, despite the fact that the sewage system grate was not extremely deep, the animals were still unable to escape. It appeared the team would just need a couple of them to pull the animals out. As they prepared for the rescue, the firefighters began to work.
