Once a valued hunting friend for the Romanov dynasty, Borzoi, the Russian Wolfhound, Borzoi is a breed renowned for being quiet and proud, akin to a cat. American and English breeders imported them during the Revolution and kept them from extinction under protection. Their uniqueness helps you to love them from what you have observed. These graceful sighthounds represent their noble past by having a sophisticated and aristocratic attitude. Rising to thirty-two inches at the shoulder, they are renowned for their elegant movement and great speed—they may exceed forty miles per hour. To keep their silky coat looking great, they must be routinely groomed. Borzois are usually calm and well-mannered indoors, despite their weight; so, if given enough exercise, they are very suited for flat life. Their hunting background drives them strongly, hence early socialising and training are rather important. For individuals who value their special mix of grace and force, their calm and loving demeanour with family members makes them great allies.
