The Catalburun is one of the most peculiar dogs in the world because of their appearance; they are pretty unique variety of Turkish Pointer. Their Turkish name suggests that they have a two-sided nose, which is a trait lacking in other dogs and which compromises their sense of smell. They are outstanding hunting dogs even if their noses are not flawless. Though they are celebrated in Turkey, Catalburuns are mainly unknown in the rest of the globe. The most unique genetic trait of this rare breed is their split nose, which helps one to identify them right away. Standing twenty to twenty-four inches tall and weighing between forty-five and sixty-five pounds, they have an athletic lean that fits hunting. They have been used for generations in Turkey for hunting different animals; although their nasal anatomy is peculiar, they are great scent hunters. Their short coat comes in liver and white hues and calls for little care. High energy levels and strong hunting instincts of cat buruns make them demanding of exercise and mental stimulation.
