Jack, a man, chose one day to acquire a Tibetan Mastiff because of its great weight and aggressive look. Big dogs had always appealed to him, but nothing could have ready him for the enormity of his new friend. He understood just how enormous the huge dog actually was as he carried it home from the shelter. Standing on its hind legs, the Tibetan Mastiff he named Goliath was almost exactly as tall as Jack.
Jack struggling under the weight of the mild monster, battled to raise Goliath off the ground. But finally, driven to embrace his new companion properly, he managed to cradle Goliath in his arms like a tiny puppy. The scene was funny and charming: a grown man hardly able to keep onto a dog more like a bear.
Jack was carrying the big dog about like a soft doll, and onlookers found their eyes gone. Some halted in their tracks, mouths open, to capture images of the humorous scene. Children pointed and laughed; adults shook their heads in incredulity. Jack grinned and joked that his new furry companion was simply a "little heavy," attempting to keep his cool in front of the mounting audience. His face heated with effort, but his eyes gleamed with delight.
Jack laughed at the ridiculousness of the circumstances despite the difficulties of keeping a massive dog: from finding a bed large enough to fit Goliath to making sure there was enough food to satisfy his great appetite. Living with his Tibetan Mastiff would present unanticipated events and limitless fun, he knew.
Jack couldn't have been happier as he strolled down the street with his unusual friend. Jack found himself falling more in love with his new pet with every day as Goliath's mild demeanor contrasted strongly with his imposing weight. He pictured their excursions together, the startled stares they would get, and the pure love they would share.
